DAVE HACKETT’S 50TH
The few times I have been fortunate enough to meet and talk to Dave Hackett, he has always left a great impression on me. It was never what I expected and the more time I have gotten with him leaves me thinking I have been more fortunate for it. I think it stands to reason that this is also the same benefit skateboarding has garnered from the man. He has left an indelible impression on skateboarding.
Dave Hackett, or ‘the Hackman’ as close friends refer to him, celebrated a milestone today. He reached the 50 years of living mark. By most standards 50 years old means it is time to be an old fart and complain about the woes of life and the world. You wont find any of that coming from Hackett. He’s living the life of a 25 year old. On any given day you’ll find Hackett skateboarding, surfing, jamming out rock riffs on his guitar and following life where it takes him.
This day was no different. He celebrates life daily anyways, but since it was such a milestone, why not share it with as many friends as you can muster. It was not to hard for Dave to rally them together when you throw in a session at a Malibu beach house (Thanks O’Shea!!!), free Bull Tacos, music by Joe Wood and the Lonely Ones, and some birthday cake.
It couldn’t have gone off any better. I think everyone got what they came for. Good Times! For Dave, that is what life is about and he seemed quite happy to share them with all of us fortunate enough to be there.
