Poolgasm – Review

Hessian Sessions was Nick Gates first attempt at a full length video, It’s still to this day one of my favorites. Poolgasm is video number two for Nick. He had been working on this video for some time… I had heard a great deal about this video before it came out. There was a lot of talk about it being one of the best “pool” skate videos for 2005. So I pre-ordered a copy and bought a t-shirt too. Hessian Sessions was Nick Gates first attempt at a full length video, It’s still to this day one of my favorites. Poolgasm is video number two for Nick. He had been working on this video for some time. The video is another gallant attempt by Nick to bring the viewer into the hidden world of “pool skating”. There is some killer footage of Lance Mountain, Dave Reul, The Heddings fundraiser at Pala, Benji Galloway and The Greek. Somewhere in the video the whole “Back yard pool scenario” gets a little lost. There is a little too much Etnies Park footage and the editing is a little choppy. With so many “Pool Videos” coming out these days, you really have to be on your toes with what you call a “hardcore” Pool Video. I would have liked to have seen more back yard footage and less park footage. There is a great bonus section with a killer little video called “Gone” by Mark Phillips. All in all this video is decent and worth adding to the collection. If you have not scene Hessian Sessions I highly recommend you pick that one up also. Hopefully Nick Gates will continue to create new and better videos as time goes on. It’s not easy to put something out there or create something from scratch. Anybody willing to invest the time and money to create something original has my respect 100%.
