From the Guide to Western Skateparks 1978: FEATURES: The Alameda Skateboard Park, located at the Alameda Marina, provides 36,000 square feet of fun and skateboarding. The park has four runs for the beginner and advanced skateboarder. There are three large bowls and a freestyle area.
MEMBERSHIP: Membership is required and the fee is $3.00 per year. Members receive occasional discounts in the pro shop, along with skating specials. The skateboarding sessions are two hours long and each session costs $2.25. All necessary safety gear may be rented at the pro shop for 25 cents per unit.
FACILITIES: The pro shop at Alameda is well stocked and features Tunnel and Santa Cruz products. Contests are sponsored occasionally, and a and a program to conduct skateboarding lessons will be offered in the near future.
Night lighting is provided by hi-density sodium lights which allows for shadow-free skateboarding.
The game arcade has six pinball machines, and there are vending machines with drinks and munchies available.
