The first backyard skatepark
After Santa Cruz buried the Frederick Street public park, local skaters got to building a private park of their own at Ed and Kim DaRoza's house. Rather than dig, they moved earth into four piles, and connected them into a track shaped like a capital letter N. It took approximately six weeks to build and reached its completed state in August of 1976. Eight months later, DaRoza and Steven Houts began work on what would become Skatepark Soquel
