Excerpt from the Guide to Western Skateboard Parks ,1978:
Owned and Managed by: SSE Enterprises, Inc. Larry Stanfield
FEATURES:
The beginners' run is a banked serpentine which empties into a 42' by 25' bowl. The mogul maze consists of five moguls in a 110' run and is 50' at its widest point. All walls are banked. The intermediate ditch is 120' long and 10' deep in spots with near vertical walls. The ditch averages about 15' in width. Next is a 140' double-bowled serpentine with a shallow, 20' bowl in the center, which then continues on and empties into a 12' by 35' bowl, with 5' of vertical. Another serpentine, with walls from 6' to 14', empties into a 14' by 40' bowl with high-banked walls. There is a 410' slalom, and a 100' freestyle area that goes from 40' to 50' in width.
The advanced area includes a 5' by 25' bowl, and the pipeline itself is in a special area that you must qualify to use. The pipe is a perfect pipe, being a water main pipe just like those found in the desert. A bowl is under construction for this run to empty into. They usually have some pretty hot action on this one.
MEMBERSHIP:
A $4.00 lifetime membership is required, and includes a personal membership card and one hour of free skating time. Admission is $1.00 per hour with a one hour minimum. Sessions run continuously and safety equipment may be rented for 25 cents per item.
FACILITIES:
The pro shop carries only high-quality equipment, including Tracker, Sims, and Logan. The resident pro is Mark McIntosh, and the staff offers lessons for all levels of proficiency. Amateur contests are held every other night with prizes such as free sessions, T-shirts, and equipment. A monthly amateur contest features trophies, equipment, and free sessions.
There are vending machines in the patio for cold drinks and snacks, and the game arcade has 25 pinball and video machines. A grassy, 60' by 130' rest and picnic area in the center of the park is accessible to spectators.
