Built on fill land in the San Francisco Bay
For years prior to Rim Rider's construction, this strip of land in the San Francisco bay was used as an aviation school. In 1978, a "syndicate of investors" purchased the land and installed the skatepark as a commercial venture. It included six major features: a halfpipe run, a snake run ending in a bowl, a capsule, a keyhole, a figure eight, and a fullpipe.
