Originally known as "Willow Skatepark."
From 'The Western Guide to Skateboard Parks', 1978. Page 83-85.
FEATURES:
Although undergoing expansion, The Perfect Wave is operating at this time. The beginners run has 22' to 3' bank turns and empties into the freestyle area. The second run is a snake with a 2' bank, a 90° turn with a 5' bank, and then empties into an 8' deep bowl. Another snake run has a radical hairpin turn with 6' banks and empties into a 9' deep bowl. The last run varies in width and empties into a 10' deep bowl.
New runs to be added soon include the "Fruit Bowl." a key shaped pool 25' in diameter and 40' long, with 4' of vertical and tile and coping. The depth of the “L Pool" will drop from 3' to 10' and will be 45' long, 25' wide, and have 4' of vertical and tile and coping.
Also to be added are a 60' half pipe and a 40' full pipe.
MEMBERSHIP:
The lifetime membership costs $2.50, and includes a photo ID card and a chance to win skateboard equipment in a drawing every Monday afternoon. Skaters from out of town do not need membership for one day's skating.
A two hour session costs $2.25, and sessions run continuously. Special group rates are available on request. Safety gear is rented in the pro shop for 25 cents per item.
FACILITIES:
The pro shop carries a complete line of skateboarding products, and the game room has pinball and video machines. Vending machines are available for snacks and cold drinks, and expansion plans include a lounge and patio area and bleachers on top of a building for a total view of the park.
