The second of two parks built by Brevard county in the first weeks of 1976.
General Development Corp was a land development company that developed Port St. Lucie, North Port, and Port Malabar, which is today a subdivision of Palm Bay. In 1976, the corporation donated tons of asphalt to the city for the construction of a skatepark.
Because the only cost would be in labor, the city moved quickly to construct the small skatepark.
"It came up rather suddenly, this asphalt being available. I would have liked to make the ramp longer, over some of the other hills, but we just didn't have any time to plan for it," city manager Charlie Davis said.
