The second of the dueling Fort Pierce skateparks
Co-owners Ronda and Mike Morse and their four kids abandoned their life in Ohio to open a skatepark in Fort Pierce in 1977. Mr. Morse was a General Motors executive and the family "invested everything they had in the park;" at times living in a trailer on the park grounds to oversee its construction.
The unique feature of this park was its skateshop located inside a geodesic dome.
Safe Surf was demolished in December 1979 and the land owner said the concrete was going to be used to bolster the South Beach Jetty.
