First version of the skatepark located within Asbury Park's iconic boardwalk casino
This indoor park was designed by the local group known as The International SKA-bo Club and was intended to be a competition site. It included a 17-foot high takeoff ramp leading to a 22 foot high wallride/quarterpipe with a reported 8 feet of vert, as well as an 80 foot long, 40 foot high slalom course.
The park held what was reportedly the largest east coast competition of 1978, which attracted over a thousand competitors.
Additional photos of the park can be found in the April 1978 issue of Wild World of Skateboarding about NJ local skater Beth Fishman
The casino was closed in 1980 after incurring storm damage. It was reopened in the 1990's, but the skatepark moved from the arena to the carousel house.
