A park that came to an ironic end
The park was started by three entrepreneurs: Richard Schuster, Thomas Shoemaker, Grant Richtmeyer, and it was initially presented as a safer park because it had no vert. Schuster described the layout as a “rolling configuration” that had no "impact surfaces."
The park had two bowls, a slalom and a snake run.
Ironically, Off the Wall was possibly shut down by a wall itself. In summer 1978, the borough sued the park because one of the its retaining walls was bulging outward and engineers said "there was a 50-50 chance" the wall would collapse.
