A skatepark named after a popular root beer brand
Weber's Wave was something like a spiritual cousin of Reseda, California's Skatercross.
But while Skatercross was built in a closed down A&W drive-in, Weber's Wave was built as an addition to a functioning Weber's Drive-in. The restaurant opened in this location in 1952 and attractions were added incrementally when Axel Kjellmann took ownership in 1965. Kjellmann reportedly had aspirations to add a driving range, but could not obtain clearance, so a miniature golf course was added instead. A trampoline park was added, but was replaced by the skatepark in 1977. The park's largest run had a 24 foot rise and emptied into a 20-foot deep banked bowl.
The skatepark was open until 1982, and Weber's Drive-in continued to operate until 2013. It was finally demolished in March 2024.
