One of the earliest skateparks in New York, the East Coast Skateboard Arena was owned and run by Craig Lieder and Fred Araujo, co-owners of the Surf and Ski shop.
The park contained a 12 foot deep wooden bowl "styled after a swimming pool," but it did not attract many skaters and was closed within a year.
