Located in an old movie theater, only open for three months.
The old Vestal Theater was a brick fronted Quonset hut building. Quonset huts were prefab arch-shaped buildings similar to those used in military barracks, and they were most commonly used in the immediate postwar period.
The theater opened in 1948 and ran until May 23 1977, when it showed its last film.
Just a few months later, an accountant by the name of Frank B. Pettey acquired the property and began advertising that a skatepark would be built inside. The indoor park opened in April of 1977. Petty shut the park down and sold the building after just three months of operation.
Patty Scarano bought theater for $130,000. — offered it up for FREE if someone would move the building. Because the whole thing was just a prefab Quonset hut it could be moved with a crane or trucks.
Details about the inside of the park are scarce, whether it contained wood or fiberglass ramps inside is unknown.
