Bent Cement reportedly began when the owners saw an article in the Big Spring Herald's "Leisure Magazine" that showed kids skating in the ditches around the area, and one of them told the magazine that they wished Big Spring had a skatepark like San Angelo and Lubbock.
Bent Cement owner Keith Bristow visited two California parks that he said served as the template for his park: Sparks Carlsbad and The Concrete Wave in Anaheim. Because of this, the park had a familiar layout with a freestyle area, intermediate snake run, an advanced downhill run, a halfpipe with vert, and a vert kidney bowl.
