In 1977, El Paso got two major skateparks within ten miles of one another. Earth Surf appeared first, and then a month later Desert Surfing opened.
Costing just under $100,000 to build, Desert Surfing was styled after Anaheim's Concrete Wave, with five runs of varying size.
