One of two parks opened on the same stretch of highway within a week of one another.
Described at the time as the "largest skatepark in the Metroplex," Mid Cities Skatepark was opened just four days after --and four miles south of-- USA Skateboard Park in Irving.
The owners of the park were Bob Moore, Charles McDaniel, Rhea Wallace, and Chuck Kurp.
In 1979, Mid Cities added the two-story tall Sky Rapids waterslide.
