A common story in the early skatepark days was that an entrepreneur saw a popular skatepark somewhere --usually when on vacation in California or Florida-- and basically copied the idea in their hometown. Up the Wall took that same story but kept it within Texas. Architect Stanford Knowles saw Northeast Skate Slopes in San Antonio and modified the design for his own park by adding a ten foot keyhole pool.
Knowles and Ligon also built the skatepark at Six Shooter Junction.
