The first of two parks with the Jetway brand
Jetway was run by Dick Upton, a Memphis Anhueser-Busch distributor and former president of the West Memphis dog track. His initial investment in two skateparks totaled $700,000 and spanned 12 total acres of land across both Jetway parks.
Jetway of Bartlett was the first to be completed and opened, and included four main sections: a freestyle area, a slalom track, a 320 foot snake run that ended in a bowl, and a so-called "drop bowl" which was a 10 foot vert bowl (without tile or coping).
The park closed in January of '79.
“I am trying to lease or sell it. Because of overhead costs, I chose not to reopen and manage it myself. We may reopen it, but we are trying to lease or sell the Bartlett facility. We have no plans to close the one on Mt. Moriah. Business is good there,” Upton said in May 1979.
