Location
Though Texas had many parks in the 70's, neighboring Oklahoma had just this one. Ridge Rider was built toward the end of summer 1978 and cost reportedly just under half a million dollars.
The design was similar to Earth Surf in El Paso including three main runs for beginner, intermediate and expert riders, as well as a slalom track and freestyle area.
Owing perhaps to a lack of competition from other skateparks (owner Paul Reed in 1980 said the nearest alternative park was Skateboard Cities of the Ozarks 2 hours away) Ridge Rider stuck around longer than many 70's parks. Well into the 1980's, the park remained clean and skateable.
Ultimately the park was buried, but its footprint is still clearly visible today.
