Indoor park with transparent Lexan ramps
Located inside the Whatcom Sports Arena (now known as Sportsplex), Skate Away was comprised of almost the entire line of Firestone skate ramps. It included:
The "Banzai halfpipe" (20' diameter; 16' wide, 15' high with 4' of vert)
The "trough" run of opposing quarterpipes (5.5' high)
a slalom track with Lexan starting ramps (one 8' high, and one 5' high)
One wooden halfpipe of indeterminate spec, and a freestyle area.
--The park's brochure from the time said "These ramps were seen on the Johnny Carson Show," which differs from the Firestone ad that ran in Skateboarder that included a picture of the ramp on the Mike Douglas show.
