Originally slated to be built in just 60 days in late 1977, Skateboard Cities of the Ozarks was forced into a delayed incremental opening. Though the park’s launch date was July 20, 1977, grading and construction didn’t begin until September. In November 1977, bicycles rode through the initial pour of concrete while it was still wet, causing several hundred dollars worth of damage. It took two months for the park to be fixed and a fence to be erected, and even at the opening day in January of 1978, only three of the five runs were complete.
After completion, Skateboard Cities of the Ozarks included:
The Snake Bowl - 36 ft. Wide, 10 ft deep “with roll-out edge”
The Super Bowl - 40 ft wide, 14 ft deep with 4 feet of vert
Mogul Maze - 4600 sq foot “bumps and bowls” course
Slalom Course - 48 meter competition course
Halfpipe - 280 foot long, 8 to 10 foot banked walls ending in a bowl
