The inland sibling of the Ocean Bowl
Built just three months after Ocean City's Ocean Bowl, Salisbury's unique joint venture with Wicomico County cost $30,000 and had the highly unceremonious name "Skateboard Park."
The park included a beginners' section and an advanced riders' section, which on opening day was open to those who "qualified" at the Ocean Bowl.
Within the first year, 1,600 skaters registered to use the park and though it was initially very popular, its use only declined through the vertical skating boom. The county ceased providing operating funds and the city sought to sell the park to private investors. In the absence of successful private bids, the city abandoned its lease and demolished the park in July 1982.
