Ohio's first skatepark
Inspired by the parks he saw in California in 1976, Surf's Up owner and builder Ed Repphun opted for a small and low-cost layout for his park: A four-foot deep, 36 x 40 foot bowl constituted half of the park, while the other half was just a flat asphalt area for freestyle. The entire park cost only $6,500 and had a maximum capacity of 25 skaters.
