The park was owned by Troy Muse, who described himself at the time as "an old country boy tryin' to make good."
Muse said he was planning to build a skatepark already, but it took a visit to Daytona Beach, FL to push him over the edge. The popularity of Skatboard City was a major impetus for the construction of Waynesville Skate Park.
