New England's first skatepark and one of the first ten skateparks of the 70's.
Yawgoo Valley Ski Resort was the first and only ski resort in Rhode Island. Opened in 1964, it was a modest location for winter skiing with four slopes, two trails, and a maximum elevation of just 300 feet. In 1976, however, it made national news when it made the radical decision to invest $10,000 into a skateboard park to attract offseason attendance.
At this point there were no skateparks farther north than Southern California, so a weather-appropriate design had to be invented.
The result was an asphalt bowl of [presently] unknown dimensions.
