Location
From Alec Schroeder:
"The first Transitions was on Whittier Blvd. in a 15' wide x 80' deep storefront that used to be a flowershop. I built (3) 12' wide halfpipes, end to end down the length of space, for Ester. She was/is the Latino woman, who hired me. I thought she was wild and kind of crazy, but she paid so I did it. The landlord saw it and told her: "No Way!" And kicked her out. Ester was not to be discouraged. Her son skated and she saw skateboarding as a business opportunity. So, she found another building on Bandini Blvd, I think, in East LA. And hired me again to move the ramp from Whittier Blvd to this new location. Shown here. At this location, I built a bunch of more stuff. (met a girl who gave my herpes...but, that's another story.) One thing I remember fondly about this spot is that Chris Miller used to skate here regularly, and he told me that: "It was the best vert ramp he ever skated." Ya, that stoked me."
