Location
(updated 6/29/05)This is a special skatepark project designed, built and funded by the Calais Skatepark Committee, directed by Calais High School Technology Education teacher, Randy McCormick, but energized by the young people of Calais. This park is modest, but growing, but in a small class of parks that are truly built by the young people themselves. The park is open to skateboarders, inlines AND BMX bikes from dawn until 10:00 p.m. with the lights on from dusk until ten. The park includes 2-5' q-pipes, 2-4' q-pipes,1-8'q-pipe,2-4'flat banks with ledges, 1-6' high and 20' long starter ramp, a crusher, a skateable picnic table and several movable kickers and grind rails. The CSC has added a 16' x 21'pyramid at the park and is will be installing a "Euro-Gap" ramp soon. We added a"Skatebuilding" last year, again designed and built by students. This building offers concessions and a bathroom when CSC members are present. Our 4th Annual competition will take place on August 6th, 2005 on the biggest day in Calais, the International Festival Parade and event day. The Calais Skatepark Committee will offer many raffles, food, live local rock music, demonstrations, competitions and prizes. All are welcome and please visit our Web site at www.calaisskatepark.org.
