Okay, here's the weirdest thing I've ever seen in skatepark design ? the Sun Valley Skatepark is the twin of the Idlewild Skatepark in Reno. That's right, both parks were built using the same basic floor plan ? right down to the same pool and reservoir quarterpipe area. In other words, if you've skated one, you've skated both of them. I know that some cities want to save money on design plans and that selling the idea of a skatepark to the community based on the accident free history of another local skatepark saves everyone a huge hassle ? but come on guys, the whole idea of a skatepark is to challenge the skaters with new obstacles. By building two skateparks less than 20 miles apart with exactly the same layouts, you've done a disservice to the whole community. On the good side of the ledger is that there is lots of room at the Sun Valley Community Park for more additions to the skatepark in the future. How about building a vert ramp Sun Valley? You'd have the only one in hundreds of miles and might make the park a major attraction. - Big Mike Muckenthaler
