Despite it being a Purkiss Rose (bleech) creation and despite the facts that the street course is too meager and busy with obstacles, the bowl (depending on who you talk to...) kinda saves it. Four and a half feet of smooth concrete bowl with well set coping (grind into next Tuesday...), fast corners and some blastable hips, in an odd shaped bowl, that nevertheless delivers some classic lines. Best time is when school's in sess., but you knew that ;)

The sign claims pads and helmet; optional unless the Po-Po or Rangers show, which is rare.

To me, the bowl here is a gem. Park was a Purkiss Rose product, but Wally Hollyday was the subcontractor for this one, so he saved the design and build. Street section is meh, but this bowl is an example of what I wish there was more of in SoCal. Great bowl for beginners, but fun to be had by all levels. Great place to learn tricks, and progressively try on higher levels, but also how to how to carve.

There is a crew of old farts (and our kids) who frequent Caruthers on weekend mornings. The rare instance where mornings are actually pretty crowded sometimes. Great warmup spot for heading south to the Vans HB park.
